About Svitlana Barnes, MA MCIM
Svitlana launched her international business career with the British Embassy in
Ukraine, initially as an interpreter to the British Defence Attaché and
then as a Commercial Advisor to British companies exporting and
doing business in Ukraine. She earned an MA in International Relations
from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK and is fluent in five languages.
Before establishing S Barnes Media, Svitlana Barnes held several
senior sales and business development positions in the
UK publishing sector, encompassing both the scientific
and financial services markets. Svitlana worked for a financial
media publisher and conference organiser in London and with Science
magazine in Cambridge, one of the world's most prestigious scientific journals.
Svitlana has lived in three different countries and done business
internationally representing B2B publishers at international
trade shows and conferences in the US and throughout Europe.
She is a great believer in "sales with a difference",
because whether you need to attract new customers or
retain existing ones, you need to establish and build lasting
relationships. Svitlana holds a Professional Diploma in Marketing.
She is Chartered Marketer and Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) in UK.
In her spare time Svitlana enjoys travelling and exploring different
cultures and is currently learning Italian. She is
passionate about world literature and poetry, European films and
art. She is also the UK representative for the Ukrainian journal of world
literature, Vsesvit.
